Noosa Resorts Top Quality, Bargain Prices

Noosa is one of the most popular Australian beach holiday destinations. Cradled by the enticing waters of Laguna Bay the spot has developed an enviable reputation over the past forty years. Development of the area has been fashioned sympathetically in keeping with the natural contours and proportions of the natural landscape added to its overall attraction. The many Noosa resorts provide an impressive choice of quality accommodations to suit every taste and budget.

Perhaps the best known spot is Hastings Street. It is tucked in tight on the west side of a small cape defined by Dolphin Point. The cape protects Laguna Bay from southerly swells and all but the largest of easterly swells. The area name comes from the indigenous Australian word Noothera meaning shadow or shady. Place. Many visitors arrive by jetting in to Maroochydore airport, about 25 kilometres to the south. For those planning to drive, the area is about 130 kilometres north of Brisbane. Those arriving by yacht can find berthing at Mooloolaba Marina (5 kilometres south of Maroochydore) and Buddina Marina (1 kilometre south of Mooloolaba).

Hastings Street, Little Cove and The Hill three pockets that form a core for the region as a whole. They set accommodation benchmarks for the entire region. All three pockets are literally within a 5 to 10 minute stroll of each other with immediate access to Main Beach.

Hastings Street runs more or less east-west, parallel to Main Beach. It is a flat stretch of land about six hundred metres in length and containing a mix of retail stores, restaurants, cafes, bars and vacation accommodation options, as well as a few private residences.

Little Cove sits immediately to the north of Hastings Street. It is bordered by Laguna Bay and the protected bushland. Most of the properties in this nook are private properties, some available on a rental basis.

The Hill sits to the east of Hastings Street and is surrounded by national park. It is mainly occupied by private residences, rental properties and a limited number of resort developments. The hill is about 120 metres high with great views of the district. A public lookout has been established on the hill to allow people to linger and take-in the expansive vistas.

Noosa Sound and Heads are both more or less immediately adjacent to Hastings Street, lying roughly west and south-west respectively. The Sound is a man-made island in the lagoon immediately west of Main Beach. It is linked to the mainland by two short vehicle bridges, one at its eastern end and the other at its south-western end. Its island setting provides it with a peaceful tranquillity, many properties having enjoying quiet water views.

The hills and mount dotted sparsely along the hinterland were created some 30 million years ago by volcanic activity. Changing sea levels 6,000 to 10,000 years ago helped to shape many of the local creeks, rivers, lakes and lagoons as well as the ocean beaches and unique coastal topographies, including nearby Fraser Island.

Noosa Heads was first operated as an Aboriginal Mission area in the 1870s. Hastings Street and its environs were surveyed and gazetted for land acquisition in 1879 and the first guesthouses to accommodate visitors were established soon after. The local Surf Club formed in 1928. Since those early beginnings, the shire now has a population over about 50,000 permanent residents. Tourism has been actively promoted since the 1970s.

The 16 locations summarized above each have their pluses, offering attractive features for the varied visitors that come to enjoy the region. Visitors searching for Noosa resorts will find no end of attractive alternatives at these spots. Whichever option you choose, the hosts will work hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and make sure you take home fabulous memories.

Ruth Grant spent her youth on the south coastline of Victoria Australia and transferred to Noosa to check out her dream of getting active in the regional holiday accommodation industry. She has since unveiled her very own Noosa accommodation business venture which offers a selection of both budget plus deluxe selections.
