How far is Gold Coast from Brisbane exactly ?

Would it be convenient to stay in Brisbane and go to Gold Coast on a vacation with 2 kids ?

Is Brisbane in the mid-way to Dreamworld, Water World, etc ?

dreamworld and all the other theme parks are at the gold coast itself, not brisbane.
People saying ‘its close to the gold coast’ are wrong, they are ON the gold coast. The respective suburbs of the gold coast where they are located are…
Dreamworld and White Water World are at Coomera, Wet’n'Wild and MovieWorld are in Helensvale and
Seaworld is in Southport at ‘The Spit’

Its probably a 1 hour drive to the gold coast from brisbane in good traffic depending on where in brisbane you would be planning to stay. If you were to go to the southern end of the gold coast add a little more driving time obviously.

There is soooo much more to do with children on the gold coast so I would stay here not in brisbane if this is where you plan to spend you holiday. Beaches, currumbin wildlife sanctuary, theme parks, aqua duck and heaps more in the hinterland too. Springbrook, purlington brook falls, Mt Tamborine, O’Reillys Rainforest, Tropical Fruit World etc…

It would be better to do a day trip or two to brisbane if something interested you there, but base yourself on the gold coast. You can catch the train between the two cities as well.
There are stops at coomera, helensvale, nerang, robina so wherever you stay you can catch a bus to get the train up to brisbane

Southbank is really nice to visit and queen street mall in brisbane. And there is also the brisbane museum and science centre but you could do all of those things in just one day as they are all at the same location.

I do recommend taking a day to go to Australia Zoo which is north of brisbane in Beerwah on the sunshine coast

    Have fun!
